Mount San Jacinto SP

California State Park

Mount San Jacinto stands 10,834 feet above sea level, and is the second highest mountain range in Southern California. The park is located near Idyllwild and it is surrounded by the San Bernardino National Forest. It can also be easily accessed from the desert by using the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway.

The park offers two drive-in campgrounds near Idyllwild.
Overnight permits are required for hike-in camping in wilderness area.

Pets

Except for service animals, dogs are prohibited in the state wilderness. Dogs are permitted on a leash in non-wilderness areas.

Horseback riding is permitted on designated trails.

Hiking

Hiking

Hiking is permitted throughout the park. Must remain on designated trails in the Hidden Divide Natural Preserve.

Regulations & Recommendations

Bicycles may be ridden only on pavement.
Most of the park is a designated wilderness area which requires a permit for entry.
Fires are only allowed in the provided fire rings.
