This wilderness area encompasses the jagged, steep, rust-colored Dead Mountains and the alluvial fans sweeping to the west towards Piute Valley and east towards the Colorado River.

Camping is permitted, limited to 14 days. After 14 days, campers must relocate at least 25 miles from previous site.

Pets must be under your control at all times.

Horses are permitted throughout the wilderness area. Bring all needed supplies including water.

Hiking

Hiking

Hiking is permitted throughout the wilderness area.

Hunting

Hunting

Hunting, fishing, and non-commercial trapping are allowed under state and local laws.

Shooting

Shooting

Shooting is permitted where safe and should be conducted well away from other concentrations of people and property.

Please clean up your cartridges and target material.

Glass should not be used. Clay pigeons are discouraged as they're difficult for the user to clean up all debris.
