This wilderness lies within one of the largest dunes systems in North America. The wilderness is divided into two distinct zones. The largest and tallest dunes are located on the west side, while the east side contains smaller dunes and numerous washes.

Camping

Camping is permitted, limited to 14 days. After 14 days, campers must relocate at least 25 miles from previous site. Please set up camp in previously disturbed sites.

Pet are allowed and must be under your control at all times.

Equestrian

Horses are permitted. Bring all needed supplies including water.

Hiking

Hiking

Hiking is permitted throughout the area unless otherwise noted by signage.

Hunting

Hunting

Hunting and non-commercial trapping are allowed under state and local laws.

Shooting

Shooting

Shooting is permitted.

Please clean up your cartridges and target material.

Glass should not be used. Clay pigeons are discouraged as they're difficult for the user to clean up all debris.

Trail Finder Detail

The GPS map progressively increases detail as you zoom in to prevent information overload.

Trail Finder maps are a subset of the GPS map. Trail Finder maps of large regions do not include the lowest zoom levels. In most cases, the GPS map has two more layers of detail than the Trail Finder maps.
