El Capitan Reservoir

Water District - San Diego

The reservoir is stocked with Florida-strain largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, channel catfish, blue catfish, green sunfish, and carp.
All persons (ages 8 or older) entering reservoir property will be charged daily use fees.

Pets

Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times and at least 50 feet away from the water. Dogs are not allowed on any boats.

A valid CA fishing license is required.
Boats on a first come basis only, no reservations.
Float tubes, waders, or fishing from the shore is permitted. Use of float tubes is restricted to within 150 feet or less from shore.

Hiking is permitted on Conejos Creek Trail.

Regulations & Recommendations

The recreation area has three barbecues and eight picnic tables.
No ground fires or glass containers are allowed.
Patrons can bring self-contained gas barbecues for use in the picnic area only.
There is no camping allowed.
Fishing permits and bait (shiners, crawdads, nightcrawlers, meal worms and wax worms) are sold on site. Patrons can use credit cards for boat rentals and other purchases, but permits are cash only.

Trail Finder Detail

The GPS map progressively increases detail as you zoom in to prevent information overload.

Trail Finder maps are a subset of the GPS map. Trail Finder maps of large regions do not include the lowest zoom levels. In most cases, the GPS map has two more layers of detail than the Trail Finder maps.
