Horseback riding is permitted throughout the area. Bring all needed supplies including water.

Hiking is permitted throughout the area.

Hunting

Hunting

Hunting, fishing, and non-commercial trapping are allowed under state and local laws.

Shooting

Shooting

Please clean up your cartridges and target material.

Glass should not be used. Clay pigeons are discouraged as they're difficult for the user to clean up all debris.

Regulations & Recommendations

Vehicles are not permitted in wilderness areas. Horse Mountain Road and forest road 27S11 are not designated as part of the wilderness area. These roads can be used by motor vehicles and bicycles in addition to horses and hikers.

Trail Finder Detail

The GPS map progressively increases detail as you zoom in to prevent information overload.

Trail Finder maps are a subset of the GPS map. Trail Finder maps of large regions do not include the lowest zoom levels. In most cases, the GPS map has two more layers of detail than the Trail Finder maps.
